Next CBR planning meeting will be Wed, March 2, 7pm (location tba)
Latest updated highlights as of January 13, 2011
Thoughts of Spring naturally lead to highlighting the Covered Bridge Regatta on your racing calendar for Saturday, April 9th, 2011. This year’s regatta will again feature racing for master, junior and collegiate rowers on our fully buoyed, Dexter Lake race course. This year, the noon hour will feature dual races in which the men of Oregon State University take on last year’s national champions from the University of Washington. A few additional changes are highlighted below.
Once again, in a prelude to Saturday’s racing, we are offering the Dexter Dash and Dinner
(D3) on Friday evening, about 6:00 PM. The Dash is a ‘ham ‘n egger’ style 500 meter relay for masters eights and singles of all skill categories. You enter, we set the line-ups and everyone wins a catered dinner immediately following the racing.
In addition, the heats for the CBR’s masters singles events will be held on Friday evening,
starting at about 5:30 PM. Finals on Saturday morning, if necessary. We encourage all teams to arrive at Lowell State Park on Friday to unload boats and equipment and maybe take a practice row. Trailer parking will be limited and more difficult on Saturday. Be aware, however, the Dash and the masters singles will be warming up and racing on the course on Friday. Please stay off the course. Overnight security at the park will be provided. The addition of the OSU/UW dual races allows us to offer an additional challenge for other collegiate teams. The final race of the noon-hour extravaganza will be the men’s Collegiate Championship 4+. Other collegiate teams wishing to test their speed alongside OSU and UW may enter this event (limited to the lanes available). Alternatively, the traditional men’s Collegiate 4+ event will be held immediately following. Believe it or not! In an effort to make costs more equitable and affordable, registration fees have gone down this year! With the exception of single sculls events (still $20), all events will cost $10/seat (coxswains free). There will be no fee cap per team.
Registration information and a preliminary schedule of events will be posted both at our website www.oarowing.org and at www.RegattaCentral.com before March 1st. All Covered Bridge Regatta entries must be completed through the Regatta Central website by April 1st. Dash entries by email to will be set up shortly. The final schedules will be posted after April 1st. Updates and real-time results will be available at OAR_CBR on www.Twitter.com. Questions may be directed to Anita Larson at regatta@oarowing.org We strongly encourage clubs and schools to bring motor launches and drivers. This has been an incredible help in the past and we need you again this year. We do reimburse for fuel!
